The Robot from Niš Innovators Will Be Available to Farmers Starting in April
30. January 2024.Innovations in Agriculture: Domestic Robots Set to Replace Tractors
Agriculture was once dominated by manual labor. However, with the rise of technological innovations, manual work is gradually becoming obsolete.
Thanks to the innovations applied by experts from Niš, engineers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the company Coming Computer Engineering, a robot for all-day work in agriculture could soon be found in Serbia's fields.
About twenty experts have designed a robot named after the AgAR project—Universal Agriculture Autonomous Robot. This robot will be able to replace human labor in plowing fields and other land cultivation tasks, such as planting crops, irrigation, spraying, pruning vineyards, destroying weeds, and picking fruits and crops.
Joystick and Sensors for Even the Most Challenging Terrain
One of the key features of this platform is its ability to position itself and navigate all types of terrain successfully, explains Nikola Velčev from Coming Computer Engineering in an interview with Forbes Serbia. Velčev notes that AgAR is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized farms, helping to compensate for labor shortages and reduce production costs. Larger farms, of course, require more extensive machinery.
AgAR: A Tireless Worker, Operating 24/7
Thanks to its innovative battery swap technology, the AgAR robot can work 24 hours a day. Swapping the battery takes just five minutes, and with three battery packs, continuous operation for 24 hours is achievable.
